The Hoxton Vet is an independent vet practice in Hoxton, London N1 providing bespoke, consistent care to the pets of East London and Islington. We recognized the need for an independent practice amid the rising corporitisation of the veterinary industry. At Vets Away, we provide clients with a personal, tailored approach to their pet’s health. We offer a complete ‘nose to tail’ experience either at our Hoxton practice, or through home vet visits arranged to suit you.
No two pets are alike and neither are their owners at The Hoxton Vet we appreciate everyone has their own preferences. Customers have control over which vet they see and can book their desired vet through our online booking system 24/7, choosing between standard twenty minute consults, extended thirty minute consults or home visits.
We are proud to be practicing veterinary medicine differently placing an emphasis on high quality nutrition and early socialisation.
Meet the vet
Dr. Maureen Murphy
BSc BVetMed MRCVS OV
Long before Dr. Murphy graduated from the Royal Veterinary College she was a veterinary client herself. Having grown up with family dogs, owning dogs all her life you could say dog ownership has been in her blood since childhood. In many ways she entered the veterinary industry as an outsider - dog lover first, she retrained later in life turning her passion into her career. Being an outsider in the industry allowed her to view the industry from the perspective of the client. Sympathizing with growing customer dissatisfaction over short consult lengths, ever changing vets and nurses, and a complete lack of control over which vet they are seeing she started Vets Away to bring back the family practice to East London and reconnect people with independent vets offering a customized level of care that the client is in control of.
Following a ten year career in consulting and finance she graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2016 already having built a doggy daycare and grooming salon in East London. She next embarked on an internship at a referral hospital outside Winchester returning to small animal general practice in Clerkenwell. For several years after this she worked as a locum veterinarian in central London experiencing the corporatisation of many wonderful independent practices across London. The Hoxton Vet aims to bring back the charm and personal touch of a family run practice and provides an honest approach to veterinary medicine.
Clean, compact and safe!
Occupying a ground floor commercial unit at the top of Hoxton Market our veterinary practice has two consultation rooms, a prep area for dentals and small procedures, state of the art ultrasound and surgical theatre. As an official veterinary (OV) our vet is able to issue travel and fit to fly certificates. For those clients who prefer to be seen in the comfort of their own home we offer afternoon home vet visits.
